What is your name and what city do you rep?
I’m Polyna. I represent the unique and magical Siberia.
What is unique about you and your music?
I was born and spent my childhood in a very small closed town in Siberia – yes, it’s a secret little town that has a special border so no foreigner can get in there. Ever since I started visiting other countries I realized that people think about Siberia as a very cold and scary place. So I want to show the real Siberia through my music – its beauty, rawness, honesty and purity.
What shaped your music?
I guess it’s the mix of those contrasts between my siberian life and my recent ‘western’ life. My music has the same contrasts and consists of very different elements – for example it’s common for me to have Siberian throat singers and a bunch of cool synths on one track.
What type of music do you listen to?
I’m in love with music! Love great left-field pop tunes and big pop tracks, but especially admire raw ethic music coz that’s where we all came from. I’m always in a search for something cool and inspiring.
Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?
Haha, definitely me so far!
How do you prepare for your performances?
Try to sleep well the night before and be in a great mood! The rest happens on its own the moment I get on the stage.
What ignites your (song) writing flow?
People’s stories, nature and my own feelings.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
Honestly, if I don’t write music then I rehearse dances or create music videos or performances… It takes most of my time. The rest I save for travel as it’s my biggest passion after music.
Success to you is…
To be heard and be able to perform and share my music with the world.
Any upcoming projects?
My debut album is on the way!
