What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Henry Metal and I rep Earth. I live on the internet, in the ether, and can be heard blasting on speakers from Budapest to Brazil and everywhere in between. Even as a citizen of the world, however, I do hope to represent the best of American Metal.

What is unique about you and your music?

We try to be musical and the music is all about the song and the album. We’re not into gimmicks or making the weirdest noises you ever heard. We’re not so much into long, important sounding intros, tuning lower than dogs can hear or
pretentious lyrics. We also have a zero-filler policy and the solos are actual notes. We’re old school in that we’re trying to make real songs with an SM57 Mic and guitars, and new school in that we record them on a digital portastudio rather than an analog one.

What shaped your music?

The project was shaped by the notion that the coolest things are always happening underground and that there is a lack of honesty, bravery and rebellion going on in rock right now that presents an opportunity. It has always been cool to make something dangerous and authentic, and now it’s even cooler because everyone’s trying to make a radio hit and you can’t tell them apart because they all sound like they came out of the same computer program.

What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to everything, usually whatever’s on the radio which happens to be a lot of New Country at the moment.

Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

Daniel Johnston.

How do you prepare for your performances?

It usually begins with a bit of shadow boxing backstage which sort of morphs into a dance – a ‘twerk,’ if you will. Then I calmly apply the face paint, usually listening to opera as I do so, before donning the mask or sunglasses and perhaps a sport coat or fine smoking jacket. As a finishing touch, the black gloves are ceremoniously snapped into place.

What ignites your (song) writing flow?

It can start with a topic and then that topic gets explored in a very honest and shameless way. It also starts many times with what the English call a “bad-arsed riff.” As I have been saying for years now “If the riff makes you stiff then along comes the song.”

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are
passionate about?

Nothing. I only play music…

Success to you is…

Having some kid I’ve never met, from some totally different place, tell me that he or she thinks the music is cool.

Any upcoming projects?

For once in a long while there is no upcoming album in the works yet although there is a working title. The next album will be Henry Metal 8 and we’ll be striving to design an album that is straight up mythical.

Where do we find your music / music project?

The music can be found everywhere fine music is sold including Itunes, Bandcamp, Amazon and CD Baby.

How do we connect with you through social media?
