What is your name and what city do you rep?
My name is Daniel Angelus and I currently reside in England.
What is unique about you and your music?
My music is emotional and intense. Possibly a sense of wonderment maybe. It doesn’t hold back on ambition and it tells lots of stories that I feel can resonate with today’s world. What makes me unique as an artist is what I have survived in this world and how I have come roaring out of the past charging towards the future headfirst with excitement.
What shaped your music?
My music is shaped by the sounds, smells, feelings and the foreboding sense of loneliness in such a huge and wide world. My mind is very sensitive and I allow my music to be a yellow brick road to new worlds of imagination. I have a writing partner named David Emery who adds a mystical flavour to my records and allows me to put all the colours in my mind onto his empty canvas. He channels my vision and emotion into audio channels. He is great. My new album ‘Wired for Heartbreak’ explores the past, the present, the future and distance between two humans.
What type of music do you listen to?
I am currently really feeling music by Susanne Sundfor, MGMT, Twin Shadow, Young Fathers and Hans Zimmer. I listen to a lot of music however. Too many great artists to mention.
Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?
The most undervalued music artist to me is Billy Mackenzie. Also a band called Glasvegas. Party Fears Two by Billy Mackenzie & The Associates is a song that still gives me chills every time I hear it. All of Glasvegas music is quite an amazing experience to hear as well.
How do you prepare for your performances?
I prepare by getting dressed in the dressing room, I have a strict liquids routine I follow and I do breathing exercises. I then meditate with my eyes closed to try and channel all my energy into what I am about to do. I am very open and emotional on stage, it is a double edged sword. I love it, but it can lead to some emotional places.
What ignites your (song) writing flow?
Travelling ignites my song writing flow. Getting out of a personal space and seeing new places, meeting new faces and tasting new foods, smelling new perfumes on the people I pass by. I prefer to write away from society and then bring the music alive in a city studio.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are
I love to read books, I really enjoy PC Gaming, I like to travel and I am mostly passionate and dedicated to my wonderful son.
Success to you is…
Success to me is internal happiness. Have I done my best?, do I enjoy my shows?, do I enjoy my writing/recording?, what is my Legacy?.
Any upcoming projects?
I promise I will be doing live concerts in the next few years. I look forward to performing this album!
